Little colourful huts were designed as a playful reference to the ‘shelter sheds’ that Caroline Chisholm created in 1855 for the families walking from Melbourne to the Gold Fields in Ballarat. Little bits of gold paint are an accent throughout the space in collaboration with Rightside Creative. Bright colourful stripes have been painted on the footpath around the park in the same palette. PLACEMAKING: COMMUNITY GARDEN PARKLET, SMALL STREET, HAMPTON, MELBOURNE
Bayside's market gardens inspired the activation at Small Street in Hampton. In 1840, much of the southeastern suburbs were rural growing spaces for fruit and veggies. A community space, with accessible timber decking, outdoor seating, planter boxes and painted stencilled footpaths was created at the end of a street.

651 CHAPEL STREET, PLACEMAKING ACTIVATION, MELBOURNE
We have created a series of captivating renders for a temporary pop-up park, offering a unique opportunity to trial a new public realm space. By temporarily closing the street to through traffic, we can create a central hub for people to gather, explore, and enjoy. This destination space will draw footfall and serve as a platform for events, programmed in partnership with local businesses, the community, the Council, and traders, promoting the area's local economy.
The concept is designed to be a lively and fun pop-up space for everyone, with flexible elements that can be reused. The design envisions a comfortable central green space filled with indigenous containerised plants, fostering biodiversity and responding to local climatic conditions. This green oasis will provide a refreshing retreat where people can relax, socialise, and connect with nature.
